President Hakainde Hichilema commissioned the rehabilitation of the 35 Kilometer Chingola-Kasumbalesa road on the Copperbelt Province, with the President stating that the rehabilitation of the road will open up the country’s economic growth as it will ease the movement of traffic to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) turning Zambia feeding into the goal of making Zambia a regional hub for road transport

The Government has secured funding build a state of the art boarder at the Nakonde One Stop border post, which will help actualize Zambia’s plan to become a transport and logistics hub in the region with the minister of Transport and Logistics arguing that the initiative will not only foster smooth trade with neighboring Tanzania but also in enhancing Zambia’s role as a regional transit hub.

President Hakainde Hichilema has assured players in the transport sector of total support from his government with the assurance that the government will give favor and priority to Zambian transport owners and drivers as they conduct the movement of people and cargo turning  the country into a hub for the region

President Hichilema launched a citizen empowerment program in the transport sector in a bid to improve the transport sector in the 10 provinces , which is a positive step in making Zambia a logistics hub for the region.

The Government of Zambia has secured funds for the rehabilitation of Serenje-Mpika road and the development of the Nakonde district one stop border post thus converting the Zambia – Tanzania corridor into a Safety, Mobility, Automated, Real-time Traffic Management -SMART corrido

Government has set aside Seventy million Kwacha to be used for the construction of a modern airport in Solwezi district of North Western province

U.S. company LANDLOCK Natural Paving, Inc. signed a five-year Joint Venture agreement with the Zambia National Service under the Ministry of Defence to build 5,000 kilometres of road in Zambia that will run through all 10 provinces of the country. The construction is scheduled to begin in March or April of 2024 contingent on weather conditions

Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo signed a Communique to start operating Kasumbalesa boarder facility on a 24-hour window.

Zambia and Angola signed six memoranda of understanding to facilitate the construction of the Zambia/Angola connection road.

The government set aside K57 Million Kwacha in this year’s budget for the re-capitalization of the Tazara Tayali railways 

The Minister of Transport of Zambia in collaboration with  Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo signed the Tripartite Agreement, which creates the Lobito Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (LCTTFA).
